For Ukranian Scholars
Scholars and scientists directly affected by the war in Ukraine can be included in ongoing FWF research projects throughout Austria with immediate effect through an expedited application process.
As the PI of a cooperation project between the FWF and the Austrian Academy of Sciences, I am looking for applications by Ukranian scholars who have fled to Austria and who hold expertise in one or more of the following areas: migration policy and politics, religion and politics, political theory of migration, morality policy and politics, border externalization and human rights. Both pre- and post-doc researchers are welcome to apply.
I can offer a fully funded contract to work for up to one year in the project Migration as Morality Politics: The Contentious Politics of Sanctuary in Europe and the United States. The project analyzes normative conflicts and ethical dilemmas that arise in connection with migration policies and politics. It focuses in particular on political conflicts related to “sanctuary,” and investigates three types of sanctuary practices: church asylum, sanctuary cities, and search-and-rescue operations on the border.
