As part of the commissioner’s mandate for Peace and Security at the Pan African Youth Union, to foster the youth’s engagements towards building and creating sustainable peace, and also to promote for African youth peace activists, we are launching this call for applicants whom they are willing to join the commissioner as the Country Focal Points of Peace and security to the commission
The Focal Points are the youth-volunteer-hub of the Commission for Peace and Security at the Pan African Youth Union. They will be helping in enlarging the network of youth peace advocates across Africa and also contribute in spreading a culture of peace where positive roles young women and men can play in maintaining and promoting peace and security in their countries. One of the main objectives of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR)2250 resolution is to include youth as a key-actor on the peace and security agenda, in line with Aspiration 4 of the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063 for a peaceful and secure Africa, the Peace and Security Commission is established to develop strategies that put PYU on the consultation table.

Focal Points will be a chance to promote for youth peace activists as it will be also the opportunity:
- To develop your skills and expand your network.
- To promote for the culture and values of peace.
- To support the Commission strategy objectives through involvement in activities designed to peace building.
- To support other peace youth-hub, when required, in achieving strategy objectives.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mapping youth activities and initiatives related to peace,
- Highlight youth stories and projects across Africa,
- Encourage active youth participation and engagements to peace,
- Create the Commission Focal Points network on Youth Peace and Security,
- Help the Commission in raising awareness of the African Union’s agenda 2063 to peace and the United Nations resolution 2250 on youth peace and security.
- Maintain professional contact with partners, and institutions’ representatives.
- Provide support to the Commission in achieving the strategy on youth peace and security in Africa.
- Focal Points will be nominated for One Year.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATION:
- Be an African citizen between 18 and 35 years old.
- Clear understanding of the UNSCR2250 objectives.
- Previous participation in peace consultations and its related activities.
- Taking an active role within his/her society.
- Previous experiences in youth-led activities.
- Participated in organizing Local/National or Regional events.
- Good English and/or French level (oral and written).
- Good communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrate his/her interests in representing his/her country to the Commission for Peace and security at the Pan African Youth Union.
- Experience in working with young people and/or interest in doing so.
- Reliability and commitments.
- Good time management.
