Amsterdam University College Model United Nations (AUCMUN) is a yearly Model United Nations conference based in the cosmopolitan capital Amsterdam. The conference aims to bring university students from all over the world together to get involved in meaningful debate on diverse current global issues. It is organized by students of Amsterdam University College, an interdisciplinary Honours College by the two research universities of Amsterdam; the UvA and the VU.
AUCMUN 2018 will be the conference’s third and largest edition. The first conference was held in 2016, as a pilot with students from within AUC. This concept turned out to be a large success, and in April 2017 the conference was organized to host more students from all over the world. AUCMUN celebrated its second edition together with 120 delegates who participated in 5 different committees. The delegates enjoyed not only a high quality of debate within the conference, but also hosting in the nearby AUC dormitories and a social program during which they could explore Amsterdam and its nightlife.

This year, the conference will host over 200 delegates in 9 different committees, with experienced chairs and delegates from several levels;
- General Assembly
- Disarmament Commission
- Legal Committee
- Special Political and Decolonization Committee
- Environmental committee
- Security Council
- Crisis Security Council
- ECOSOC
- Human Rights Council
- Committee on drugs and crime
The conference stands out because of its low threshold for delegates, as Amsterdam is very accessible from within and outside of the Netherlands, and the delegate and social fee is low compared to other MUN conferences, without losing its quality. Amsterdam provides a perfect backdrop for a discussion on global level, as the capital harbors a rich, international history, and is admired for its historic beauty and international character.
