East and Southern Africa Regional Consultation on Youth, Peace & Security (Fully Funded) | Diplomacy Opportunities

Youth Peace and Security

As part of a series of regional consultations the United Nations is organizing a consultation for the East and Southern Africa region, to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from 1 to 3  August 2017.

This regional consultation is part of a global effort to bolster action on United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, which calls for young people to play a greater role in strengthening peace and security. The discussions from various regional consultations will feed into the Progress Study on Youth, Peace and Security, highlighting the positive contributions of young people in peacebuilding.

Please note that we are inviting a selected group of youth-led organizations and youth peacebuilders in the region as well as a wider audience to submit applications. The selection of young people from the East and Southern Africa will be made based on motivation and experience, with the majority coming from youth-led organizations. The organizers will ensure balance in terms of age, gender, geography and diversity among selected participants.
