Youth Assembly at the United Nations

The Youth Assembly at the United Nations is currently accepting applications for 2017 Spring/Summer Internships. We are looking for undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional candidates to assist the core staff on the planning and preparations for the 2017 Summer Youth Assembly at the United Nations.

The preferred candidate must be available to work in our office located in Greenwich, Connecticut, and commit up to 20 hours per week. These are non paid internship opportunities, travel reimbursement is provided.  A variety of positions are available to qualified applicants living in the Greater New York area.

  • Assist the Communications Specialist in planning media and communication strategies
  • Create and post content for social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Conduct research on social media trends and competitive insights
  • Answer delegate inquiries via phone, email, and social media platforms
  • Engage and interact with the online community
  • Update relevant channels of communication using information gathered from the Programme Development team
  • Assist in contacting media representatives
  • Draft and proofread press releases and other communications vehicles as needed
  • Maintain digital files of photos, videos, and text content
  • Assist with video content development
  • Help coordinate the media hub and other media/documentation activities during the conference
  • Collect and archive media coverage
  • Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as needed


  • 1-2 years of relevant internship is required; work experience preferred
  • Communications, Film/Photography, Graphic Design major or recent graduate
  • Must be savvy in various social media platforms
  • Photography, video editing, and graphic design experience preferred
  • Values accuracy and proper citation
  • Must be able to work under strict deadlines
  • Has creative approach to solving problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; phone etiquette
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, photo and video editing applications
  • Strong attention to detail, time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a team
  • Global perspective and strong cultural awareness
