Afrika Youth Movement Retreat and Youth Empowerment Forum on the Implementation of the SDGs and Agenda 2063 will be held from 16 – 20 March, 2017 in Nairobi – Kenya (dates are not inclusive of traveling dates you are expected to arrive on the 15th March and leave on the 21st March).
The adoption of Agenda 2063 by the Africa Union (AU) and the Agenda 2030 by the United Nations (UN) are firm commitments to address the most important challenges affecting the continent and a determination to make Africa and the world a better place to live. The SDGs are expected to influence the course of the history of humanity in the next fifteen years, while tackling issues such as poverty, inequality and unemployment, which are crucial to Africa. The implementation of SDGs will require the participation of all, leaving no one behind.
Afrika Youth Movement (AYM) is a Pan-Africanist Action-Oriented social movement that strives for the development, active participation and Leadership of African youth in the fight for social justice. AYM is a community of committed and united young Africans who aim to change the reality of Africa by generating together creative solutions.The movement has over 5,000 active young Africans from 40 countries who aim to change the reality of Africa by generating together creative solutions using accessible tools as social media and running campaigns such as #AfricaSmile, #ILoveMyContinent.

Youth Empowerment Forum: 20 March 2017
AYM retreat will be 4 days, 16-19 March 2017, gathering 40 participants AYMers and new members to strategize and co-create ways to strengthen a continental youth led movement (limited spaces); while the Youth Empowerment Forum will be a public event on the 20th March 2017, gathering +100 participants and giving them a platform to question and critically address global issues; most importantly examine the role of the youth in creating the Africa We Want and engage with different stakeholders from the UN and AU officers.
